Dear colleagues,

Human voice is a unique phenomenon that is crucial for speech communication. Exceptional artistic works have been produced not only by using the vocal system but also by using the whole body as one adjustable instrument.

However, voice misuse leads to vocal tract impairments as well as severe voice disorders, which in turn restrict the speech communication. Diagnosis of vocal tract diseases requires an integral approach, in order to exactly determine the impairment and start an adequate treatment and rehabilitation process, parallel with further development of research modalities. Therefore, we initiate the foundation of voice association iVoiceMed, which would unite professionalists engaged in voice treatment and research, with aim to promote new knowledge, prevention programs as well as new research programs. Through international meetings, work-shops, invited speakers and transdisciplinary conferences, we will aim to improve voice science in Croatia by the latest achievements in the field of diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation of voice disorders.

Therefore this Symposium as well as iVoiceMed foundation are dedicated to all professionalists having voice in the center of their activities: phoniatricians, otolaryngologists, pediatricians, neurologists, speech-pathologists, voice therapists, phoneticians music teachers, to all participants in the educational process from kindergarten to university, and to other numerous professional voice users in business, vocal performing arts, politics, mobile communications and in electronic media.
